South Valley

We will go by bus to the south of Cusco, during this trip we will be able to observe beautiful landscapes of the Andean Mountain Range. The first stop will be in Tipón, an Inca ceremonial center where, through a stone channel, the flow of water from the high peaks of the Pachatusan hill to the lowlands of the valley was controlled. Later we will visit the Archaeological Complex of Pikillaqta which literally means “city of fleas”. It is an old walled citadel of the Wari Empire, which was one of the most important regional centers of the Wari Culture, originally from Ayacucho. Finally we will conclude the journey visiting the beautiful Church of Andahuaylillas, little jewel of the Colonial period. It was also known as ‘The Sistine Chapel of America’, inside which is an impressive collection of canvases, paintings, murals, baroque altarpieces, and more. Likewise we can appreciate the famous pentalingue door.
